He was trained by the legendary 'Sunny' Jim Fitzsimmons. In 1957 he was named Horse of the Year. He was forced to retire, due to injury, during his 4 year old season, when he went to stud. As a stud, he has had virtually unequalled success, including the top North American sire for a modern record of 8 seasons. His greatest offspring was the magnificent Secretariat, among many others.
