Cover is illustrated with same picture as on DJ. Pages are clean and tight. Lavishly illustrated with vibrantly colored pictures. Endpapers illustrated with color pictures from story. Back of front endpaper is written: A. J. A. Winchester. U of M--Flint, Fall--76: Original form of this story [folk tale] is from an African tale 'The Clever Turtle'. It then is an Uncle Remus Tale 'Da Tar Baby--'. Appears to be a first edition. Pages not numbered. While Liza Lou is taking sweet potatoes across the Yeller Belly Swamp she encounters four suspense-filled adventures with four villians who wish to do Liza Lou harm. But they haven't counter on our heroine's quick thinking, pluck and great resourcefulness. Wonderful African-American tale. ; Color Photographs; 7 3/4 x 10 1/4; Unpaginated pages; Cover has some bumping, edge wear, rubbing; few pages show faint slight use marks, from being read. DJ has bumping, edgewear, rubbing/scuffing, many closed tears, some big, some small, 1 3/4" chunk torn off from bottom of spine, but present, approximately 1" x 2" piece missing from top of spine/front; in a mylar cover. NOT A FORMER LIBRARY BOOK!
