Hardcover is dark blue with silver lettering on front and spine and silver fish illustration on cover. Endpapers illustrated with map of Great Lakes region, which includes upper midwest, east to New York State, west to Minnesota, and southern parts of several central Canadian provinces. "This book is an expansion of our earlier work 'The Fishes of the Great Lakes and Tributary Waters', Bulletin #18...1941". Sections are: Anatomical features, terms and methods of counting, measuring, collecting and preserving; Key to the Families; Keys and Species Accounts; List of References; Halftone Plates; Index. Lavishly illustrated with 26 color plates, and 251 b/w photos and drawings. The Cranbrook Institute and School, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is still considered one of the finest private K-12, science and art schools in the USA. ; Ex-Library; B&W & Color Drawings & Photographs; 5 1/4 x 9 1/4; 186 pages; Cover has some rubbing, shelf wear, bumping, sunning; typical ex-library marks; stamps on each side of text block. Back [verso] of front endpaper has owner's, name very tidily written, and dated 10 November 1947; owner's name stamped, very small, at bottom right corner of half title page; back [verso] of half title page has book plate of owner, with the glue bleeding through to the half title page. Very few other markings on any pages, except the library ones.
