Dexter, 1876-1958, was not only an illustrator but a well regarded landscape, interior portrait and still life artists [I have a print out with some information about him to go with the book]. He was exhibited at many shows and collections. Some of the chapters are: Today at the Castle; Annals of the Castle; At Holyrood; Historic Mile; Kirk O'Field, the University and the Hospitals; New Town and the Suburbs by the Sea; Three Edinburgh Masters and a Visitor; Note on Art; The '45 in the Lothians, On Lammer Law; etc. I just adore Edinburgh, one of my all time favorite cities, and this is a terrific book on it from 90+ years past; when Britain still ruled over approximately one quarter of the globe, and before The Great War/World War I, devastated a whole European generation, and rewrote much of the map. ; Ex-Libris; Color Illustrations; 5 3/4 x 8 3/4; 333+ pages; Cover has edge wear, bumping, rubbing, sunning, light smudging; book plate from private library pasted inside front cover. Pages have light sunning on edges; front end paper showing signs of beginning to separate from stitched signatures, but still intact.
